Technical Visit to Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry...
A technical trip was organized to Kastamonu with the participation of Artvin Çoruh University, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Forest Engineering first year students. The technical trip was organized between 11-16 May 2014 with the participation of our faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turan SÖNMEZ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aşkın GÖKTÜRK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmet YENER and Assoc. Assist. Mustafa ACAR and 35 students participated. Within the scope of the technical trip, different forestry practices in different directorates of Kastamonu Forestry Regional Directorate were examined on site.
During the technical visit, the students were first informed about the fight against forest pests and protection in the Biological Control Laboratory of the Forest Pest Control Branch Directorate. After a drill on forest fires by the Forest Fire Fighting Branch Directorate, the students were shown permit easement practices in an active quarry by the Permit Easement Branch Directorate. In the next part of the technical tour, the Silviculture, Business Marketing and Forest Management and Planning Branch Managers gave information about density maintenance, first spacing maintenance, pruning, stamping, standardization, production, occupational safety, sorting and storage in Karadere Operation Directorate, about natural tensil works in the beech tensil area in Çatalzeytin Operation Directorate and about the selection business class in Kastamonu Operation Directorate. In addition, sample rehabilitation works in the copper mine in Küre Operations Directorate were shown on site. On the last day, the students visited an integrated factory producing MDF in Kastamonu and were informed about the nursery works in the nursery of Daday Operations Directorate.
